The Block is a national institution, and Legrand is one of our industry’s shining representatives on-screen. We caught up with Palash Nandy, CEO at Legrand ANZ, to chat all things TV.

From a business perspective, why is Legrand’s involvement in The Block important?

With 1.3 million viewers per episode, The Block provides a unique platform for Legrand that allows us to showcase our simple, innovative and stylish solutions to an engaged audience of Australian homeowners and renovators.

Not only does this generate brand exposure and awareness, it also drives enquiry and consideration for our solutions to our trade partners – so our partnership with The Block is another way that we can support them.

How does it actually work?

Before filming commences, we work with Nine in terms of what products will be utilised on the show as part of our partnership. Legrand products utilised and installed during the series include Excel Life Smart switches and sockets, Aqua Life Powerpoints, exit and emergency lighting, and LED floodlights.

What are some of the outcomes that you’ve seen – both tangible and anecdotal?

As mentioned previously, being a partner with The Block in 2024 offers brand awareness across multiple platforms.

Not only that, The Block audience of renovators and homeowners – or those looking to buy – are some of our key consumer demographics for many of our product ranges.

Is it important to indirectly educate consumers about the value/difference to be found in electrical products from quality suppliers?

Absolutely, and The Block is another avenue where we can showcase what sets Legrand apart. At Legrand, we invest heavily in research and development to ensure that we are delivering simple, yet high-quality and innovative solutions for our customers. Close to 14,000 SKUs are manufactured in Australia out of our facility at Prestons, with around 35% to 40% of Legrand’s local revenue coming from products that are manufactured in Australia.

Legrand has a research and development team based at Prestons that helps to design products and solutions that are suited specifically for the ANZ market.

Do you think people have more appreciation of the work of electrical contractors and other tradies as a consequence of your involvement?

The Block certainly does shine a light on electricians and other trades in terms of how skilled they are in their profession and the amount of hard work and expertise that goes into what they do on a day-to-day basis.

One of our reasons for partnering with The Block is to help drive enquiries to our valued trade partners and the solutions they can offer the homeowner across electrical and smart home products.
