Bryce’s Review

Reliable electrical technician Bryce Labriyer with 6 years experience at Verlindens Electrical.

Klein Tools Non-Contact Voltage Tester with IP67 rating
Value for money

“I liked how loud the sound was when voltage was detected, and it fitted nicely in my pocket. The green/red indicator made it easy to see. Best value for money and overall best performance.”

Verdict: Clear Winner
Rating: 9/10 TOP PICK

Wattmaster – Volt Stick Tester with Light & Sound Indicators
Not a fan.

“The slim design fits nicely in your pocket, while the slim tip ensures it’s easy to reach into tight spots. It’s very quiet though, and I found it was reading false even after testing on a known live source.”

Verdict: Too pricey.
Rating: 6/10

CABAC -Voltfinger with Torch
Too bulky.

“The light feature was handy for the dark spots, and the sounder was clear and easy to hear.

However, it’s too big and bulky to fit nicely in your pocket, and it’s incredibly expensive compared to the others.”

Verdict: Can’t justify the price.
Rating: 5/10

Michael’s Review

Klein Tools Non-Contact Voltage Tester with IP67 rating
This one’s for me

“This voltage tester was solid but not bulky. It was easy to change the battery, and the loud buzzer is great. The light was only on one side though, so I could  not see nor hear feedback in noisy environments at odd angles.

Very easy to use, small, and affordable…”

Wattmaster – Volt Stick Tester with Light & Sound Indicators
A few negatives

“This voltage tester feels robust and is quite lightweight and slim, however there is no way to turn it on, and no way to tell if the battery is okay, which could lead to second guessing in situations without a known live source available. Unfortunately, this one broke on the second day of testing, but was actually a close second.”

Verdict: Would do a job.
Rating: 7/10

CABAC -Voltfinger with Torch
Big and complicated.

“I had to read the manual to understand how to use this voltage tester. The plastic feels cheap, the torch button is hard to press, and the batteries hard to replace. It’s larger and more expensive than the others, and has unnecessary features. Can see myself breaking this after a week of solid use.”

Verdict: Not a good buy.
Rating: 3/10

Tom’s Review

Klein Tools Non-Contact Voltage Tester with IP67 rating
Quality product.
“This voltage tester felt nice in the hand, and is clearly well made. I liked the battery indicator, and the transparent end. It was a little bulky though and could be improved with the addition of a torch.”

Verdict: Best of the three.
Rating: 7/10 TOP PICK

Wattmaster – Volt Stick Tester with Light & Sound Indicators
No off switch.

“This stick voltage tester was slimline and fits into your pocket nicely – and there aren’t too many functions that may fail. The downside to this one is there is no light and no off switch, and you’re unable to tell if XLV or LV is present as there’s just one sound..”

Verdict: A few flaws.
Rating: 6/10

CABAC -Voltfinger with Torch
Not much to like.

“On the plus side, this one has a light, but other than that there wasn’t much to like. It’s bulky, it feels really cheap, and it’s not ergonomic at all in the hand. For the price, you expect a lot more. “

Verdict: No thank you.
Rating: 5/10
