Changing your tech systems

What are some of the things you should consider when changing something major in your business? Here’s some basics around changing your tech systems.

In this article:

  • When is the right time to make a change?
  • The right technology can create more time to do what is important

Tech is vital for running a business today. However, what worked five years ago may not work as well for you today. That’s why it might be time to think about changing your tech systems.

So, what do you need to consider when you’re thinking about introducing a new software platform?

Billy Hosking of Jinba IT shares his tips.

“The right time to change platforms is like anything – when are you motivated to improve, but also change, your business and how you work?

“Technology increases revenue, lowers manual paperwork and increases customer satisfaction, but it also involves people changing how they work, which can be a challenge.”

“A good indicator of when to change is time versus growth. If you are an owner or operator, and spend a lot of time doing anything manual, or ensuring things are done properly rather than doing what you need to do, then it is time to adopt or change technology.

“A perfect example is a business that spends time chasing quotes, invoices, fixing problems on jobs, returns etc, but never has time to win more work to grow their business or spend time with loved ones.

“Remember, technology is only as good as the processes in place and the people that use the technology.

“While technology can help improve how we work, ensuring that change is managed, educated, and well communicated can mean that more employees will take up and adapt to the change.

“Adoption by employees and a thorough process will ensure that technology will benefit the business’s bottom line and give the owner-operator more time to do what is important.”
