Finding electrical contracting tenders in Australia
March 16, 2026
Finding out about tenders is the first step in securing them. Check out the following places where you may find opportunities that are right for you.
Federal Government tenders
These can be the largest and often most stable opportunities, and AusTender – which is the Federal Government’s tender portal – is the place to find projects across defence, infrastructure, energy, transport, digital systems, and major facilities upgrades.
State Government Procurement Portals
Every state/territory has its own tendering platform. These are essential for contractors seeking work in areas including hospitals, schools, public housing, transport infrastructure, energy upgrades and facilities maintenance contracts.
Councils regularly put tenders out for jobs, including: electrical maintenance contracts, street lighting, CCTV, EV charging stations, sports field lighting, building upgrades and solar projects.
VendorPanel (used by councils, government, and large private firms)
Energy and utilities providers
Electricity networks and utilities regularly release substation upgrades, network maintenance, street lighting contracts, metering and smart-grid installation, and renewable energy project packages.
