About this policy

The Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) (“the Act”) governs the ways in which private sector organisations use, collect and disclose personal information.

This privacy policy sets out the principles which Gemcell Pty Ltd (“Gemcell”) will follow in the management of the personal information of individuals. The policy will be provided on request to anybody who asks for a copy and the policy will be posted on Gemcell’s website.

We may change this privacy policy from time to time. Any updated versions of this privacy policy will be posted on our website.

Policy

Gemcell is committed to protecting the privacy of individual’s personal information. Gemcell adheres to the ten National Privacy Principles (‘NPPs’) set out in the Act and will only collect, use or disclose personal information in accordance with the Act and this privacy policy.

Gemcell will, from time to time, collect and use personal information. The types of personal information collected and the purposes for which that personal information will be used will depend on the circumstances. However, Gemcell usually collects personal information for the purpose of conducting games, draws and competitions in its magazine, “Electrical Gems”.

As required by NPP 1, Gemcell discloses the following:

The personal information is collected for the purpose of Gemcell’s operations and to conduct games, draws and competitions in its magazine “Electrical Gems”.

The individual is entitled to access the personal information collected and to seek correction of such personal information in accordance with NPP 6.

The personal information will not be disclosed to any third party except with the individual’s consent or as required by law, e.g. to law enforcement agencies, or to service providers retained in the course of Gemcell’s operations e.g. the Printer of “Electrical Gems” magazine.

The consequence if the personal information is not disclosed is that the individual or any associated member of the Gemcell Electrical Wholesaling Group will not be eligible to participate in any game, draw or competition conducted by Gemcell.

We take reasonable steps to ensure your personal information is protected from misuse, loss and from unauthorized access. We may hold your information in either electronic or hard copy form. Personal information is destroyed or de-identified when no longer needed.

Breach Of Privacy

If you believe that your privacy has been breached, please contact us either by giving us a call on 02 8814 1174 or using the information on our Contact Us page so that we can begin our investigation. When sending us a Breach of Privacy Notice, please include your name, address, phone number and any other contact information that is relevant for us to find out about this incident. For privacy reasons, we will only accept complaints made by the person involved and or authorized. If you wish to send us a notice on someone else’s behalf, please make sure you send us the relevant information and proof of authority to do so.
